What are you waiting for? Be Brave!

Hands up for the movers and shakers who are feeling like this year is serving up an extra dish of “holy hell, can I handle this”?!  Now take that hand, and pat yourself on the freaking back because we are all #BADASSLADYBOSSES who are absolutely knocking this whole personal and professional success thing out of this world!

If this year has taught me anything, it is that life is short – sometimes WAY shorter than you expect it will be.  So, what are you waiting for?

My year so far?  Quick recap:  Knee deep in transition from being a full-time litigator to running my own e-commerce company; maintain a part time role lawyering while balancing my new company and team; teach 3 spin classes a week at my most favorite cycle studio (because, stress release and endorphins); commence an obsession with Sumit’s hot yoga and sign up to become certified in the same; continue to seek out how to serve a greater social good that I feel so desperate to contribute to; get engaged to my incredible fiance/best friend; start to plan a wedding; have life take a 360 pivot when my mom is diagnosed with brain cancer, undergoes brain surgery, followed by radiation and chemotherapy, then passes away three months after her initial diagnosis; pick myself up off the ground, plan one hell of a celebration of my BADASSLADYBOSS Mom’s life with 150 of our closest friends and family; decide a wedding is just what the doctor ordered and re-start planning the festivities; and regroup with lawyer and CEO duties.

Did I mention I am writing this in June? Deep breaths, my friends, deep breaths.

So here I am, in San Francisco, at the Girls in Tech, Catalyst Conference with my BFF, Mary Cherry Shirley Appleseed Sheehan.  Mary is a BADASSLADYBOSS, so she naturally had another group of women empowering women that she was providing some insight to the same week of the conference and invited me along to participate.  Brevity has never been one of my strong suits, and the topic was Transitioning Careers, so I had a LOT to say to this group’s BADASSLADYBOSSES.  And these women, these incredibly intellectual, confident, and inspiring group of women, were totally interested in the stories we had to share, and how to create their own similar stories, and how to avoid feeling like imposters, and how to continue being BADASSLADYBOSSES.

Alas, like any good idea, Mary and I realized that perhaps our calling for greater social good was to continue to empower women through our own experiences, the experiences of the BADASSLADYBOSSES we have come to know and love, and the framework those chicks have employed to get ‘er done, so to speak.  Blog? Check!  Podcast? Check! Materials to Get ‘Er Done? Check! Check!

If this year has taught me anything, it is that life is short – sometimes WAY shorter than you expect it will be.  So, what are you waiting for?  Be brave!
