You Cannot Pour From An Empty Cup: Self Care

TRIBE! We have an emergency situation that requires your IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.

I know y’all run 10,000 miles per hour, doing 100,000 tasks, and wearing 1,000,000 hats.  And if you’re anything like me, this usually means you don’t slow down long enough to realize you need a little TLC until your body, or the universe, forces you into sickness, ailments, or other accidents.

BUT we, especially we #badassladybosses, have GOT TO start taking better care of ourselves.

Now, let’s say this all together: I CANNOT POUR FROM AN EMPTY CUP; I MUST FILL MY CUP.  Repeat with me one more time: I CANNOT POUR FROM AN EMPTY CUP; I MUST FILL MY CUP.

Ok, now that we have manifested our good intention, let’s discuss how to refill our cups!

TRIBE! We have an emergency situation that requires your IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.  We NEED to remind ourselves and each other about something really important – like SUPER DUPER important – that I have been noticing is lacking more and more.

Self care is not selfish, it is survival…it is the difference between existing and thriving!  Self care is what will allow you to continue being #badassladybosses and radiating all that positive energy out to others, who will in turn radiate awesome energy, and so on and so on.

There are so many ways to do this – here are a few! Connect with us and let us know what other self-care tactics you love!

SELF CARE OPPORTUNITIES THAT LITERALLY WILL NOT COST YOU A PENNY

SELF CARE OPPORTUNITIES THAT ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY

  • Complaint jar.  Get a glass jar, and every time you complain, donate $1 to the jar.  Once the jar is full, donate it – do not keep it.
  • Buy a foam roller, and foam roll.  This hurts so good, but will literally change your life.  You can find a foam roller for cheap at a discount store, or nab one on Amazon, then youtube some awesome foam roller stretches. http://amzn.to/2HzKPId
  • Treat yourself to a massage, or mani/pedi.  Don’t stare at your phone the whole time, or talk to your masseuse the whole time either…just relax…enjoy.
  • Find a fitness class you LOVE and get there AT LEAST once a week – not one you hate, one you love.
  • Schedule chat time with a professional.  This isn’t for everyone, but I have always loved me some one on one time with a professional who will listen to me without judgment, provide unbiased advice, and will hold all of my thoughts secret from the rest of my circle.  Can’t get somewhere in person? Check out Online Counseling.
  • New shoes, new handbag, new hair – treat yo’self! You HAVE EARNED IT!
  • Take a vacation already.  Somewhere you have been dreaming of.  TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE FOR AT LEAST A DAY THAT YOU ARE THERE.  The world will survive without you. I promise.
  • Read or listen to uplifting books.  Audible is my favorite app.  I listen to it while I get ready in the morning, while I drive, or basically any time I am alone and can throw headphones into my ears.
  • Eat more greens.  Or just clean up your diet.  You will feel better. Don’t Believe Me? Check out Dr. Rhonda Patrick.
  • Research and invest in supplements, bloodwork, hormone tests, etc.  Find a healthcare professional who can help you with this. Maybe you’re so tired all of the time because you are deficient in something.
